Minister of Point out Jitendra Singh confirmed the government’s designs for 21 new reactors – which includes those people now beneath building – and gave an update on the progress of the numerous tasks in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

According to Singh’s assertion, the adhering to initiatives are classed by the government as “underneath design”:
- 
- Kakrapar 3 & 4: Kakrapar 3 was linked to the grid in 2021 and the challenge to create two 700 MWe pressurised significant water reactors (PHWR) is classed as 97.12% full (as of Oct 2022). Expected completion 2023.
- Rawatbhata 7 & 8: 700 MWe PHWRs, 88.88% total, anticipated completion 2026
- Kudankulam 3 & 4: Russian-provided 1000 MWe VVER pressurised h2o reactors, 63.67% finish, envisioned completion 2025.
- Kudankulam 5 & 6: 1000 MWe VVERs, 12.89% total, expected completion 2027.
- Kalpakkam: 500 MWe prototype speedy breeder reactor, 97.64% complete, envisioned completion 2024.





The government also lessons Gorakhpur 1 & 2 – each 700 MWe PHWRs – as “less than design” with an predicted completion date of 2029. “Nuclear energy can present the region with clean up foundation-load electric power and minimize dependence on coal and common resources of vitality in the long operate. Nuclear Electricity would also complement clean renewable power,” Singh claimed.
Previously this year officers from India’s Section of Atomic Electrical power explained the region was getting ready to start setting up 700 MWe PHWRs in fleet method from 2023, beginning with Kaiga 5 & 6.
